My name is Ian Wong and I help my fellow millennials achieve their financial goals through strategic financial management.

See, the average millennial works longer hours and has less purchasing power than previous generations, no thanks to the rising cost of living in the city. On top of that, there’s very little formal education on personal financial management. We’re taught to manage and grow the corporation’s money instead. Taught to do their accounts instead of our own.

Realising this, I decided to dive into the financial planning industry, to learn the skills that I would need to give myself a better life. Therefore, I want to share that knowledge with you.

So, what exactly do I do?

I help my clients achieve their financial goals, as quickly and as efficiently as possible.

To do this, I customize and tailor action plans for my clients to follow, based on their current financial status and their available resources. Note, that these ‘plans’ I’ve mentioned, are a set of guidelines and steps – not products.

Once my clients are happy with their action plans, I execute it for them, often sourcing reliable financial instruments to enhance their portfolios and overall financial standing.

The process doesn’t stop there though, as I ensure to monitor my clients’ progress every few months. If everything stays on track, we hold steady. If not, then I’ll make revisions as necessary.

My Story

Coming out of university, I had the realization that nobody had taught me how to manage my personal finances. School, college, and university had only taught me how to handle, manage, and make money for large corporations and companies.

So then how was I to maintain and afford a reasonable lifestyle?
Could I go for annual holidays without jeopardizing my financial future?
What about the fast-rising cost of living, especially in Kuala Lumpur?

These were some questions and concerns that floated in my mind as I was deciding on my career. Eventually, I stumbled upon the opportunity to enter the Financial Planning industry, and it was here that I found my answers.

Now, five years later, I’ve discovered that I’m thoroughly passionate about helping to educate others on their personal financial management – particularly my fellow millennials and Gen-Y, as the chips are stacked against us.

The cost of living is skyrocketing. Yet incomes and salaries are suppressed. We’ve also been dubbed the “Poorest Generation”.

However, after my experience helping plan the finances of many clients, I can say without a doubt that the current generation has amazing ambition and dreams.

Almost all of my clients can tell me that they want to retire before the official retirement age of 60. They want to travel, to see the world. They want to go to a restaurant and not have to look at the price tags on the menu.

So I want to empower people (maybe even you!) and educate them about personal financial management. Hopefully, helping them to achieve all that they had set out to achieve one day.
